| Derby: Full steam aheadHoused in a towering Victorian railway warehouse, the Derwent Business Centre in Derby is enjoying a new lease of life under Blueprint’s stewardship. Once a storage space for bonded goods, it now provides rented workspace for more than 30 medium-sized businesses in units from 300 to 1,800 sq ft.
It’s been part of Blueprint’s £18 million property investment portfolio since 2005. Now, recently-appointed manager Rachel Alger is giving it an overhaul, installing low energy heating, commissioning wall art and generating a sense of community with charity events. “It’s a fantastic place to work, a real community of creative and entrepreneurial businesses,” she says. “We all love it.”
