Leicester: Phoenix Square reaches first stage of completion
The Living, Office Studios and Creative Workspace elements of Phoenix Square have just reached completion, with the full scheme including the Film and Digital Media cinema elements scheduled for their formal public unveiling in November.

A £21.5 million mixed-use development in the heart of Leicester’s St George’s cultural quarter, Phoenix Square fuses together independent arts cinema, immersive digital gallery, individually designed homes, office studios and creative workspace.

Interest is running high, with the Living elements already proving that demand is out there for well designed homes with genuine green credentials, especially when set in a ‘real’ neighbourhood like the St George’s cultural quarter – a place with a bit of history and soul, and home to some of Leicester’s best creative and cultural talent. Four of the 63 homes - which range from studios through one, two and three bedroom apartments - are already sold, with ten about to let direct from Blueprint as landlord, and interest is growing. All but one home has either a balcony or terrace, and all have access to the communal, semi-private courtyard. They are aimed at owner-occupiers (some available via the Government-backed HomeBuy Direct scheme) or private renters and can be viewed by contacting James Sellicks Estate Agents.

Similarly, the business market is picking up on the scheme’s self-contained Office Studios. From just over 1000 sq ft to around 2500 sq ft, they are some of the first spaces of their kind to be delivered in Leicester, and interest is strong. They give businesses the opportunity to have their own space (and to buy it if they like) but still be part of the creative cluster at Phoenix Square and in the wider cultural quarter of St George’s.

Phoenix Square is the first of our residential and mixed-use projects to complete with others in the pipeline, including at The Meadows in Nottingham, Sadler Square in Derby, and Northgate Riverside in Leicester.

We’re building Phoenix Square in a partnership including Leicester City Council, East Midlands Development Agency, the European Regional Development Fund, Phoenix Arts and De Montfort University.

Phoenix Square formally opens to the public on 19th November. Homes and workspace are available to occupy now.
