INTERIOR DESIGN REFLECTS CONTEMPORARY AND VERSATILE LIVING AT TRENT BASIN

Laura Davies is leading the interior design project at Blueprint’s Trent Basin development. She is head of Show Home Design and Planning at Territory Interior Design. In this blog she outlines the inspiration and concepts for the new show homes at Trent Basin.

We are excited to be working on the interiors for the brilliant new show homes at Trent Basin for Blueprint. The key focus is to show off the lifestyle on offer at the new development, one that embraces the outdoors and a sense of community and wellbeing whilst being a stone throw away from the city centre.

The architecture of the development is contemporary and relevant, and the interiors will showcase the versatile modern living and practical use of space the homes allow to cater for a wide range of homeowners. To complement the architecture the overall look for the interiors will be cool and contemporary, but with a relaxed feel that is homely and welcoming at the same time. Effortlessly stylish casual living that is all about quality over ostentation.  The combination of tactile surfaces and textural layering will give a cosy feel to the overall clean lines.

A huge feature of the site is it’s amazing riverside location on the Trent and the homes make the most of this with spacious roof terraces for outdoor living as well as large windows to maximize views and natural light. Therefore continuing the indoor-outdoor feel is something we will be making the most of with the interiors to show off these features.

The colours used will create a visual link with the outdoors, with a palette of fresh neutrals accented with a range of blues and greens inspired by those river views and surrounding trees. Flowing sheer curtains will frame the large windows whilst making the most of natural light, and prints inspired by the outdoors particularly with a botanical or water theme play an important part in the look to help bring the outside in.

The main ethos of the development is one of sustainability and responsible living and has been a key element of the design and building process. The interiors will also be designed with the environment in mind, with the use of natural materials that are responsibly sourced such as solid wooden furniture, bamboo flooring and fabrics made from natural fibres like cotton and linen. The designs will use quality products that will stand the test of time and remain relevant for years to come.

The designs will also have subtle references to their Nottingham location. For example the use of certain materials or the style of some pieces of furniture will give a nod to the industrial heritage of the site, as well as the use of lace inspired prints to add a more decorative element.

We are also adding unique and quirky touches with artwork and accessories that have an artisanal or hand crafted feel. Contemporary painted ceramics, fabrics inspired by watercolour paintings and hand drawn art prints give the designs soul and an artistic look that gives a feel of authenticity and craftsmanship whilst remaining true to the overall modern style.

The different show homes and apartments will all have a unique interpretation of the overall concept to show a range of stunning looks to inspire.  All will be revealed at the upcoming launch this summer!
